Beef Star Seoyeon Jang Imagines a K-Drama Romcom Version of the Series

What if Beef Season 2 was not an intense psychological drama, but a full-on K-drama romance instead?
According to Seoyeon Jang, the idea might actually work surprisingly well.
In a recent appearance on Once and Always a Fanboy, Seoyeon was asked what kind of scene she would want to see if Beef existed in a completely different genre. While possibilities like musicals and sitcom chaos were brought up, her answer quickly turned toward a pairing within the series: Eunice and Austin.
“I’d love to see a romcom version of Austin and Eunice,” Seoyeon shared.
She then began imagining the dynamic as if it were a classic Korean drama, with Eunice becoming the smart and composed lead opposite Austin’s more innocent and awkward energy.
“Eunice is like the intelligent, clever girl and Austin is kind of unfortunate,” she joked. “And they fall in love.”
The idea immediately clicked because it flips a familiar K-drama setup on its head. Traditionally, Seoyeon noted, it is usually the male lead who holds the power or status in the relationship. In this version, Eunice would be the more composed and emotionally grounded one.
Seoyeon also revealed that if Eunice had to switch places with another character for a day, she would choose Austin because of his sincerity and good heart.
“He’s always trying his best,” she said. “He’s always really trying to be a good person.”
On the other hand, she joked that Ashley would probably struggle the most trying to be Eunice because she is “savage.”
While Beef Season 2 remains firmly grounded in tension and emotional complexity, Seoyeon’s playful reimagining of the series offered a glimpse into how different, and strangely entertaining, the world of Eunice and Austin could have been in another genre entirely.
