ALLY Reflects on Korean Training and Learning Independence as a Young Artist

Before entering her global era, Achiraya "ALLY" Nitibhon experienced one of the most formative chapters of her life while training in South Korea. Known for its discipline and structure, the system pushed her creatively while also challenging her emotionally, especially as she adjusted to living independently at a young age.

During her conversation on Once and Always a Fanboy, ALLY shared that moving abroad meant learning how to rely on herself in ways she had never experienced before. As an only child who had always been close to her family, the transition felt unfamiliar at first. “I had to live alone and I’m an only child. I’ve always been a mommy’s girl. I would always depend on my friends, my family. And when I went there, I was kind of lost because I had to do everything by myself… I had to get back up by myself as well,” she recalled, explaining how the experience strengthened her independence.

While the experience could feel lonely at times, she eventually found comfort in that independence. Even small moments, such as walking alone and listening to music, became opportunities for reflection and personal growth.

The structured environment also came with pressure. ALLY admitted that early in her training, she struggled with insecurity and questioned her own abilities. “For the first few years I was very insecure. I was unsure of everything. I felt like I wasn’t good… I thought I was going to fail,” she shared, describing how the intensity of the system affected her confidence.

Over time, she learned to separate discipline from negative self-perception. Recognizing her progress allowed her to rebuild confidence and trust her instincts as an artist. Looking back, she now appreciates both the challenges and the lessons that came from that chapter of her life. The experience ultimately “taught me freedom and it taught me how to be emotionally strong,” she reflected.

As she continues expanding her reach internationally, the resilience she developed during those years remains a foundation for her growth. Her journey shows how confidence is often built gradually, shaped by experiences that happen long before success becomes visible.
